Lula and officials on red carpet, plane behind, zoom in, pan as Lula and party walk into airport building\u003cbr/\u003ePresident of Brazil Inacio Lula Da Silva arrived in Mexico on Sunday for a three-day visit.\u003cbr/\u003eLula is beginning a tour of six countries in the region to include stops in Honduras, Nicaragua, Jamaica and Panama.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Monday, Lula will attend a welcoming ceremony at Palacio Nacional and will meet his counterpart, President Felipe Calderon. \u003cbr/\u003eLater in the day, he's scheduled to visit Mexico's Senate.\u003cbr/\u003eHe'll also meet with the local governor for Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrard, and Mexican businessmen as part of his ambitious tour.\u003cbr/\u003ePresident Lula and Mexican President Felipe Calderon are expected to sign bilateral agreements Monday midday after the welcoming ceremony.\u003cbr/\u003ePresident Lula didn't give any statement upon his arrival and headed straight to his hotel.\u003cbr/\u003eHis tour is designed in part  to develop energy and bio-fuel agreements in Latin America and the Caribbean.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe summit agenda in Mexico City, will also include discussion on deep-water oil exploration, said a Brazilian diplomat.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two countries are the two largest economies in Latin America, accounting for about two-thirds of Latin America's gross national product, according to the International Monetary Fund. About 50 Brazilian executives are with the president, in efforts to expand bilateral trade, which reached almost six (b) billion US dollars (three (b) billion pounds) in 2006. \u003cbr/\u003ePresident Lula leaves Mexico for Honduras on Tuesday. He will then visit Nicaragua and Jamaica, to attend the inauguration of an ethanol dehydration plant owned by Jamaican and Brazilian investors.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Panama, Lula is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding for joint biofuel development and to promote the participation of Brazilian companies in Panama's planned expansion of the Panama Canal.\u003cbr/\u003eBrazil, the world's leading ethanol exporter, has been touting its sugarcane-based biofuel around the world as a cheap, eco-friendly alternative to fossil fuels amid soaring oil prices and global warming concerns.
