For the 115 labels taking part in this...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eOn the face of it, it may look like any fashion show.\u003cbr/\u003eBut what's different about these models is that they're all wearing clothes made using eco-friendly, sustainable and ethical production methods. \u003cbr/\u003eFor the 115 labels taking part in this Green Fashion Show, and an Ethical Fashion Show here in Berlin, the aim is to get across the message that going green doesn't mean being off-trend. \u003cbr/\u003eThe labels have to show certificates and proof of the correct production practices to be granted access to these events. \u003cbr/\u003eThis includes proof that garments are sustainable and working conditions in factories are up to high standards. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Olaf Schmidt, the organiser of the two shows for the events company Mess Frankfurt, there has been a dramatic increase in interest for sustainable and ethical clothes over the last few years.\u003cbr/\u003eDisasters such as the collapsed garment factory in Savar, Bangladesh, where 1129 people died, has drawn attention to work practices in developing countries. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We all know about the scandals in clothes production in Bangladesh and Pakistan and of course the production process is very important. But it goes deeper than that here,\" says Schmidt.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We look at where the material was produced, what colouring was used, how is the waste water taken care of. All this is a part of it.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Ethical Fashion Show is being held in a disused factory building in central Berlin.\u003cbr/\u003eLabels from all over the world are showing off their products to company representatives, fashion journalists and the public.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the labels is Khogy.\u003cbr/\u003eIt makes leather products from discarded tuna skins in Sri Lanka.\u003cbr/\u003eWorking closely with local communities, they have developed a way to make the tuna skins look, and behave, like regular animal leather.\u003cbr/\u003eThe skins are discarded by the fishing companies that send tuna steaks to Europe and then treated using natural ingredients like coconut oil before being turned in to shoes, bags and purses.\u003cbr/\u003e\"When the big filleting companies abroad send their tuna steaks to Europe, which is a crazy devastating business, they actually have a lot of waste,\" says Jenny Welwert, company founder.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The companies we work with have about six tonnes of waste per month. And we use these discarded fish skins to make our beautiful leather products.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Khogy products can be ordered online and shipped worldwide.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother company showing their products is Amsterdam-based Oat Shoes.\u003cbr/\u003eTheir shoes are fully biodegradable and can be simply buried in the ground when they are ready to be thrown away.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd a few years after they have been buried, a surprise will emerge - as founder Christiaan Maats explains.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Two years ago we came on to the market and presented the first shoes in the world that you could plant in the ground and they will completely decompose in to the soil. And we put little seeds inside the shoes so you can have flowers grow out of your old sneakers,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother company showing their products is hat maker Hute, which makes all of their products from discarded coffee bean bags.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The sacks we get from coffee cellars. The lining is not 100 percent recycled always. Sometimes we buy leftover of other material but sometimes we just buy ethical material from the market but it is all cotton or waxed cotton,\" says sales representative Kostana Nikolic.\u003cbr/\u003eVisiting the Ethical Fashion Show is Greenpeace fashion campaigner and green fashion blogger Kirsten Brodde.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says that there is always room for improvement when it comes to eco fashion, but she's impressed by the green credentials of the labels being shown here. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It could always get better, of course. But the labels that are shown here have the highest possible eco and fairness standards that can be met. They are really the top of the range,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003eBack at the Green Fashion Show the models are being styled by a team from Aveda.\u003cbr/\u003eBastian Casaretto is the company's artistic director for Europe.\u003cbr/\u003eFor him it is important to show the fashion industry and the public that green and ethical clothes can also be trendy.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think the green ethic needs to be sexy and kind of like fashion at the same time. So if it is too green it would be like dreadlocks and like greasy hair or not washed hair and that wouldn't be feminine or beautiful,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"So we are trying to get a beautiful image, a beautiful girl, out on the runway to actually create a different image of green fashion. To bring it up to, I would almost say, to another level.
