Wide shot  Mary Stallings concert to zoom-in of Mary Stallings ending her  concert\u003cbr/\u003eRio de Janeiro, famous for its pulsating rhtyms, played hosts to the distinctive sound of jazz, when the biggest jazz festival in South America came to town.\u003cbr/\u003eThe fourth Chivas Jazz Festival, that ended on May 31st, attracted the top contemporary artists, including  trumpet player Dave Douglas , the violinist Regina Carter and the prodigiously talented American pianist Jason Moran.\u003cbr/\u003eHis album Black Stars' was  hailed  by the critics of the authoritative Jazz Times magazine  as the best of 2001. \u003cbr/\u003eIn Rio, the Jason Moran Trio experimental sounds received a warm welcome from the audience.\u003cbr/\u003eAmerican singer Mary Stallings also appeared in Rio. A top jazz performer in the 1960s working with Duke Ellington and Cole Porter among others. \u003cbr/\u003eBut she disappeared from  the clubs and the recording studios to raise a family, only returning in 1991.\u003cbr/\u003eSeven albums later she is back in business and loved by the Rio jazz fans.\u003cbr/\u003eOther guests of the festival included drummer Paul  Motian, sax payer Arthur
