Children dancing \u003cbr/\u003eThousands of performers gathered at an iconic cultural centre in the Mexican border city of Tijuana to take part in a mass dance event on Thursday night.\u003cbr/\u003eOrganisers estimate 100-thousand people performed the choreographed dance simultaneously in shopping centres, schools and factories to the tune of \"Pa' Bailar Siempre Quiero Mas\" by Tijuana-born musician Julieta Venegas.\u003cbr/\u003eThe event brings to a close \"Tijuana Innovadora\" - or \"Innovative Tijuana\" - a two-week, five (m) million US dollar festival to showcase the city's economic prowess and cultural riches. \u003cbr/\u003eThe festival features discussions on the aerospace, automotive and other industries that drive the city's economy. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Innovative Tijuana\" was launched by Jose Galicot, a businessman and a prominent city supporter, who led a campaign several years ago to decorate tunnels around the city with murals.\u003cbr/\u003eLux Boreal Dance Company Director, Angel Arambula, who helped organise the event, said it took a year to plan the event.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We joined for the cause, because we all are Tijuana and we are every proud of the results,\" he added.\u003cbr/\u003eTijuana is coming off its most violent spell in its history, marked by shootouts between rival gangs.\u003cbr/\u003eThe carnage was the product of a showdown between two crime bosses - Fernando \"The Engineer\" Sanchez Arellano and Teodoro \"El Teo\" Garcia Simental, a renegade lieutenant who rose through the ranks by dissolving bodies in vats of lye.\u003cbr/\u003eTourism is still way down from several years ago. \u003cbr/\u003eThe California State University system banned travel to Tijuana for its programmes in March after the US State Department warned about the dangers\u003cbr/\u003eof visiting parts of Mexico. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Marine Corps has also told service members in Southern California to avoid
