cleaning service.\u003cbr/\u003eSeven years after the South Korean immigrants opened a cleaning service in Washington, DC, they are now involved in a more than 65 (m) million US dollar law suit.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to court documents, the problem began in May 2005 when District of Columbia Judge, Roy Pearson Jr. brought several suits for alterations to Custom Cleaners.\u003cbr/\u003eA pair of pants from one suit was missing when he requested it two days later.\u003cbr/\u003ePearson asked the cleaners for the full price of the suit: more than $1,000 US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eBut a week later, the Chungs said the pants had been found and refused to pay. \u003cbr/\u003ePearson said the pants were not his, and decided to take the Chungs to the cleaners and sue.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Chungs lawyer said the cleaners have made three settlement offers to Pearson: $3,000 US dollars, then $4,600 US dollars, then $12,000 US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Pearson was not satisfied and expanded his calculations beyond one pair of pants.\u003cbr/\u003eBecause Pearson no longer wanted to use his neighbourhood cleaning service, he asked in his lawsuit for $15,000 US dollars - the cost of renting a car every weekend for 10 years to go to another cleaner.\u003cbr/\u003ePearson's demands did not stop at renting a car, but instead began to escalate until he settled on a final figure....over 65 (m) million US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe bulk of the $65 (m) million US dollar demand comes from Pearson's strict interpretation of Washington consumer protection law, which imposes fines of $1,500 US dollars per violation, per day. \u003cbr/\u003ePearson counted 12 violations over 1,200 days, then multiplied that by three defendants.\u003cbr/\u003eMuch of Pearson's case rests on two signs Custom Cleaners once had on its walls: \"Satisfaction Guaranteed\" and \"Same Day Service.\" \u003cbr/\u003eHe claims the signs amount to fraud.\u003cbr/\u003eDarren McKinney, Director of Communications at the American Tort Reform Association, said he believes Pearson's case is absurd.    \u003cbr/\u003eThe case has so demoralised Jin Nam Chung, Ki Chung and their son, Soo Chung, that they are considering moving back to Seoul.\u003cbr/\u003eThe three have also brought demands that Pearson be disbarred and removed from office for pursuing a frivolous and abusive claim.\u003cbr/\u003eTo the Chungs and their lawyer, one of the most frustrating aspects of the case is their claim that Pearson's grey pants were found almost right away, and have been hanging in their lawyer's office for more than a year. \u003cbr/\u003ePearson claims in court documents that his pants were not grey, but had blue and red pinstripes.\u003cbr/\u003ePearson who has been representing himself has declined to comment on the case.\u003cbr/\u003eThe case is set for trial June 11.\u003cbr/\u003eKeyword-wacky
