Wide shot Aharon clapping with family in background\u003cbr/\u003eLike any other 13-year-old Jewish boy, Aharon Yisrael celebrated his bar mitzvah in Jerusalem on Tuesday. \u003cbr/\u003eBut Aharon's life is far from normal. He is one of only an estimated 140 people worldwide who suffer from a rare genetic aging disorder and he's not expected to reach his 18th birthday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe story of the Yisrael family reads like Biblical tragedy.\u003cbr/\u003eAharon's brother was also afflicted with the exceedingly rare Huntington-Gilford Progeria syndrome and he died just 10 days ago.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd this was not the first time death had touched the family - a daughter was hit by a bus and killed 14 years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eBut on Tuesday, parents Dalia and Shemeson stood with their two surviving daughters as Aharon celebrated his coming of age.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough they are still in the Jewish seven-day period of mourning after the burial of their eldest son, they felt it was important to give Aharon his day while they could.\u003cbr/\u003eAharon's body has aged rapidly beyond his years and he's unable to speak or read.\u003cbr/\u003eHis mother said he does not understand the extent of his condition, which could take his life in the next five years.\u003cbr/\u003eBut at his bar mitzvah, Aharon took part with enthusiasm, while friends and family cheered on at Jerusalem's Shalva centre, a private education and care-taking centre for mentally and physically challenged children.\u003cbr/\u003eParty-goers danced and clapped in the brightly decorated auditorium while other children from the centre sang and played drums. \u003cbr/\u003eThe centre's music therapist filled the room with the recorded beat of his synthesizer.\u003cbr/\u003eAharon was carried in by his father to the roars of his guests and draped with a prayer shawl to stand on stage in front of a\u003cbr/\u003ebanner reading \"Aharon's Bar Mitzvah.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe crowd cheered and yelled \"mazal tov.\" \u003cbr/\u003eAfter the drum ceremony, he was given a toy car and a laminated, oversized \"driver's license\" to stand in for the one he will likely never receive. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Shalva centre (shalva means \"peace of mind\") was founded in 1990 by Samuels and his wife Malka in honor of their own handicapped son.\u003cbr/\u003eAharon's mother said without the centre to care for Aharon a few hours out of the day, he wouldn't have survived even this long.\u003cbr/\u003eSome 350 newborns, children and young adults come to the centre every week, Samuels
