Wide exterior of Presidential palace\u003cbr/\u003ePakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday called for more foreign support for his cash-strapped country Pakistan to prevent any danger of its nuclear arsenal falling into the hands of al-Qaida and its allies.\u003cbr/\u003eZardari, who has termed Pakistan's dire situation as an opportunity to draw in economic and military assistance, told journalists in Islamabad that Pakistan's nuclear weapons were in \"safe hands,\" but added that if the world doesn't help Pakistan's democracy then any eventuality was possible.\u003cbr/\u003eThe news conference in Islamabad came as Pakistani security forces used helicopters and artillery in an operation against hide-outs of Islamist guerrillas seeking to extend their grip along the Afghan border.\u003cbr/\u003eParamilitary troops killed 20 suspected militants Monday, and a total of 46 had died since the operation began in northwest Pakistan's Dir District, an army statement said.\u003cbr/\u003eA spokesman for the Taliban in their Swat Valley stronghold denounced the operation as a violation of a peace deal with the Pakistani government and said their fighters were on alert and waiting to see if a cleric who mediated the deal pronounced it dead.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Pakistani government agreed in February to impose Islamic law in Swat and surrounding districts that make up Malakand Division if the Taliban there would end their violent campaign in the one-time tourist haven.\u003cbr/\u003eZardari expressed confidence in the peace deal with the Taliban in Swat, although he added that \"there is no policy which doesn't need adjustment, tinkering with or upgrading\".\u003cbr/\u003e\"If there are any obstacles, the parliament is there, democracy is at work.
