Tilt down of market\u003cbr/\u003ePeople in the South Korean capital Seoul reacted on Saturday after the authorities stopped imports of German pork and poultry following the discovery of animal feed contaminated with dioxin, a cancer-causing chemical. \u003cbr/\u003eGermany froze sales of poultry, pork and eggs from more than 4,700 farms to stem the spread of food contaminated with dioxin, as fears grew that farmers could have been using tainted livestock feed for months.\u003cbr/\u003eSouth Korea and Slovakia on Friday banned the sale of some animal products imported from Germany, while authorities in Britain and the Netherlands were investigating whether food containing German eggs - like mayonnaise or liquid egg products - was safe to eat.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a market near central Seoul on Saturday, vendors were worried their business would be affected.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the vendors, Im Deok-jin, said there should be more thorough checks on imported meat, and exporters should be more responsible.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think that when it's being imported, we should have thorough inspection for safeguard, and people exporting the food should have more responsibility as well,\" Im said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I am concerned that my customers would have any kind of problems in eating. Friday into the German firm Harles \u0026amp; Jentzsch GmbH,\u003cbr/\u003esuspecting the company knew but failed to tell authorities that fat it had produced for use in feed pellets was tainted with dioxin. \u003cbr/\u003eThe state agriculture ministry said on Friday it had information that the company had been producing tainted fat for months - a declaration that shocked federal officials.\u003cbr/\u003eTest results published Friday by the Schleswig-Holstein agriculture ministry showed that some of the fat contained more than 77 times the approved amount of dioxin. \u003cbr/\u003eOut of 30 samples tested so far, 18 contained more dioxin than legally allowed, it said.\u003cbr/\u003eDioxins are contaminants that often result from industrial combustion and other chemical processes. \u003cbr/\u003eExposure to dioxins at high levels is linked to an increased incidence of cancer. \u003cbr/\u003eDioxin levels tend to be highest in eggs because of the high fat content in eggs.\u003cbr/\u003eAuthorities believe up to 150-thousand tons of feed pellets for poultry and swine may contain the contaminated industrial fat produced by Harles \u0026amp; Jentzsch.\u003cbr/\u003eHarles \u0026amp; Jentzsch did not immediately respond on Friday to calls seeking comment, but chief Siegfried Sievert told the Westfalen Blatt daily earlier this week the company believed that by-products from palm, soy and rapeseed oil used to make organic diesel fuels were safe for use in livestock feed.\u003cbr/\u003eThe scandal broke after regular random testing revealed excessive dioxin levels in eggs from chickens in western Germany earlier this\u003cbr/\u003eweek. \u003cbr/\u003eMore than eight-thousand chickens were ordered slaughtered and tainted food fears spread to Germany's famous pork industry.\u003cbr/\u003eGermany's Agriculture Ministry said Friday it had no immediate reports of health problems connected to the contaminated food, but it froze
