Being hurt by a dart is better than being killed by a rifle.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPERCAPTION: Chalermpong Jirapreutisiri, veterinary surgeon \u003cbr/\u003eThe macaques, sensing the visitors weren't the usual tourists handing out bananas and other treats, went into hiding at the first sight of the air rifles and blow pipes.\u003cbr/\u003eAnimal control authorities set up their temporary operating theatre in the temple grounds Friday. \u003cbr/\u003eDozens of onlookers crowded around, including a class of school children on a field trip, to see the 10-man animal control team at work.\u003cbr/\u003eAs the drugs took effect, the monkeys fell from the branches to the ground.
