Wide shot of Katarina Church\u003cbr/\u003eFour months after the deadly attack on Swedish foreign minister, Anna Lindh, confessed killer Mijailo Mijailovic is to take the stand on Wednesday at the start of a murder trial replete with speculation about his motive and mental health.\u003cbr/\u003eThe question of his guilt is a moot point, experts say, given his rambling confession that claims voices in his head, including Jesus, told him to stab Lindh, and the mountain of evidence against him. \u003cbr/\u003eMijailovic's defence lawyer, Peter Althin, has not revealed his strategy, but is expected to seek a reduced charge of manslaughter and raise concerns about his client's mental health.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthin says that Mijailovic was not in good health at the time.\u003cbr/\u003eProsecutors, however, contend they have enough evidence to send Mijailo Mijailovic to prison for life.\u003cbr/\u003eMijailovic, a Swede of Yugoslav origin, was arrested on September 24, after police said they found his DNA on the murder weapon.\u003cbr/\u003eHe confessed to police last week, after nearly four months of denials, saying he wanted to end speculation about the motive, including media reports that he was upset over Lindh's support of 1999 NATO air strikes on Serbia.\u003cbr/\u003eIn transcripts of the confession, he said he had nothing against her and that the victim might as well have been someone else.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, prosecutors say the attack was premeditated and are expected to argue that Mijailovic briefly stalked Lindh for 14 minutes before stabbing her. \u003cbr/\u003eShe died the next day after doctors worked through the night trying to save her.\u003cbr/\u003eMijailovic has a history of mental problems and three previous convictions, including one for a 1996 stabbing attack on his father, who survived.\u003cbr/\u003eThe mentally ill are tried in Swedish courts, but gravely deranged criminals are sentenced to psychiatric care instead of prison, according to forensic psychiatrist, Fredrik Heden in Stockholm.\u003cbr/\u003eIf convicted, Mijailovic, could face life in prison, the maximum sentence in Sweden, which in practice typically means 10 to 15 years behind bars.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, if sentenced to psychiatric care, he would be incarcerated in a mental institution until doctors decide he's well enough to be released.\u003cbr/\u003eAbout 100 people, including 90 journalists, are expected to follow the trial, which is expected to conclude Monday, inside the maximum-security court room at
