Wide of Saljic walking away\u003cbr/\u003eThe lawyer for war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic asked on Monday for a battery of doctors to examine the 69-year-old, as he fears the former general is so ill he won't live to see the start of his trial.\u003cbr/\u003e\"His health condition is alarming. I want him to be medically checked not by prison doctors, but by a team of independent medical experts,\" attorney Milos Saljic said outside the court in Belgrade on Monday. \u003cbr/\u003eMladic was arrested last week after 16 years on the run, and is said to have suffered at least two strokes.\u003cbr/\u003eMladic's family and lawyers have been fighting his extradition, arguing that he is too ill to face charges. \u003cbr/\u003eSaljic has said the family does not believe that Mladic would receive proper medical attention in The Hague. \u003cbr/\u003eHe has noted that several high-profile Serbs had died there, including former President Slobodan Milosevic, who suffered a heart attack.\u003cbr/\u003eSaljic said the family plans to appeal the extradition later on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever Bruno Vekaric, Serbia's deputy war crimes prosecutor, says Mladic is employing delaying tactics and that nothing should prevent his extradition to the international war crimes court in The Hague, Netherlands.\u003cbr/\u003eThe UN tribunal charged Mladic with genocide in 1995, accusing him of orchestrating the massacre of eight thousand Muslim men and boys in
