I was watching it with one of my friends and her mom said me 'Mikaela, you have to remember one thing when you go to the Olympics and you win a medal...waterproof mascara', she said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I didn't even wear mascara yesterday, thank goodness. But I was like either waterproof or not mascara because if I start crying I do not want to look like a witch.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFortunately, the only look she struck Friday was that of a champion, but it almost didn't happen.\u003cbr/\u003eGuilty, perhaps, of charging too hard on her second run, she swayed through the course's gates and briefly lost her balance.\u003cbr/\u003eHer left ski rose too far off the snow and her chance at victory in the event she's dominated for two years was about to slip away.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Shiffrin recovered and won the gold, leaving silver and bronze to Austrians Marlies Schild and Kathrin Zettel.\u003cbr/\u003e\"When I saw I had won the gold medal and I had the green light, I mostly just didn't want to stop.\", she said when asked of her thoughts after seeing clinching the medal, \"It just felt so good to just ski down the mountain like that and really feel free. Free to make mistakes and free to recover from them. That's was probably the biggest thing I was thinking at that moment, was yes, I won the gold, but don't stop.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the uber-confident Shiffrin has apparently no plans to let up anytime soon, letting it slip Saturday that she is already thinking of even more Olympic gold.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm a dreamer.
