So we brought together opposite elements, industry and culture, entertainment and the quest for new forms. Hopefully there will be films for everybody,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eA heavy dose of American and Italian films will dominate the 8th edition of the Rome Film Festival, with 18 films in competition, of which 12 are world premieres.  \u003cbr/\u003eScarlett Johansson, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara will be walking down the red carpet to present director Spike Jonze's \"Her.\"  The film is about a writer who develops a relationship with a female voice on his computer operating system.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother American film in competition is director Scott Cooper's \"Out of the Furnace\" with Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Defoe.  The film is a thriller about a man seeking his missing brother.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso showing is \"Dallas Buyers Club,\" by director Jean-Marc Vallee, starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto. It tells the story of a man who is HIV-positive fights the US medical and pharmaceutical establishment.\u003cbr/\u003eAn Italian comedy \"The Last Wagon Wheel\" by director Giovanni Veronesi and starring Carlo Verdone, Francesco Nuti and Leonardo Pieraccioni will open the festival. \u003cbr/\u003eThere is a lot of excitement in Rome about the presentation of \"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,\" due to take place on the 14th.  Actress Jennifer Lawrence will be in Rome to promote the film.\u003cbr/\u003eMuller was particularly enthusiastic about the Chinese film that will conclude the festival, \"The White Storm.\" \u003cbr/\u003e\"'The White Storm' is definitely the ultimate action movie, in the sense that it really provides new paths. It really explores new ground for action thrillers.  In China it is the very first film where you have policemen, or even better to say agents, on an international mission. But, more than everything, it is visually a very outstanding film served by a trio of really amazing actors,\" said Muller.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film's stars Louis Koo, Sean Lau and Nick Cheung are expected to attend the festival.\u003cbr/\u003eThere will also be 16 films participating out of competition.
