But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants the recalls expanded nationwide after some incidents outside the high-humidity zones.\u003cbr/\u003eRick Schosteck, Honda's executive vice president for North America, told House lawmakers Wednesday that Honda will expand the regional recall it began in June, but will continue to prioritize high-humidity areas.\u003cbr/\u003eHe also said Honda is working with other air bag manufacturers to make sure it has enough parts.\u003cbr/\u003eWashington, DC - December 3, 2014\u003cbr/\u003e1. We understand that Takata has not identified or acknowledged any defect in the drivers' airbag inflators, and thus far Takata has not announced plans to follow NHTSA's plans for a national recall.  We want to inform you that Honda is going to expand it's regional safety improvement campaign on affected driver airbag inflators to a national campaign.  Why are we doing this?  Because our customers have concerns and we want to address them.  We believe there will be a part shortage that may occur despite Takata's efforts to increase the supply of inflators.  To further increase the parts supply, we have been in discussions with Takata and two other suppliers about expanding the production of replacement inflators.
