They know the American administration, that Iraq will be number one in the next three or four years in oil reserves and they want the country to get weaker, weaker and weaker, so that it will be another Gulf oil country under the auspices of the US administration. But he admitted the defection would be used by the U-S to help win support for continued U-N sanctions.\u003cbr/\u003eHe is part of the distortion campaign against Iraq.  If you go back in memory, you will find that whenever the Security Council reviews the sanctions on Iraq, something pops up - either created or distorted, in order to give the members of the security council and the world a bad picture about Iraq in order to make some kind of pressure against other members of the Security Council , so that, they think it may help prolong the sanctions. \u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Hammed Hummadi, Minister of Information\u003cbr/\u003eDespite a bid by Russia and France to have the sanctions lifted earlier this year, he said the Iraqi government was still confident they would be lifted, especially in the light of their recent cooperation with Ekeus.\u003cbr/\u003eThe American  has two options, in this context (sanctions) : either the administration will enter into some kind of negotiations with Iraq, or it will use its veto power.  Now , if it uses its veto power, that will make the sanctions American sanctions, not the United Nations sanctions and this will free other  countries in the Security Council - or outside the Security Council , from their obligation.
