There is  nothing, we don't go out in our boats - one has to beg from a friend if he has a few fish. I  have not got a razor to shave with and have pawned off my molar teeth.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Gregorio Guerrero, fisherman\u003cbr/\u003eThe first indication of El Nino's arrival is a fisherman's catch. \u003cbr/\u003eSword fish and shark, which normally frequent warmer waters, suddenly appear in the  nets. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the normal catches which generate a living head south and out of reach.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Spanish) \u003cbr/\u003e\"It is not possible to work at sea, the water is warm. You can't catch anything because  there is nothing because the temperature of the water is so high.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Gregorio Guerrero, fisherman\u003cbr/\u003eScientists predict this year's El Nino could be a strong one.\u003cbr/\u003ePeru's coastal waters are nine degrees Celsius warmer than usual and still heating up.\u003cbr/\u003eThey have risen as high as 14 degrees Celsius in the past.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Ena Jaines, Director of Climatology \u003cbr/\u003e\"The Nino phenomenon affects the fishermen directly, more so the small fishing fleets  because they are with their boats and do not venture out so far from the coast and are  used to catching those species for human consumption, such as the mackerel and the  haddock. Therefore, when the Nino phenomenon occurs, detected by the presence of  warm water, the cold water fish tend to go deeper or head south.
