kidney failure or HIV (human immunodeficiency virus).\u003cbr/\u003eThe transplant centre of the city's largest hospital is set to run out of supplies for dialysis, a life-saving procedure for patients with kidney failure, in a month, the head of the department said on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eAll the supplies were usually provided by the ministry of health, but that has ended when pro-Russian rebels established the Donetsk and the Luhansk Peoples Republics.\u003cbr/\u003eProfessor Victor Denisov, who is the head of the Transplant Centre at the Regional Hospital in Donetsk, warned that all the patients requiring kidney dialysis are at a risk of dying if they are unable to continue receiving treatment at the hospital.\u003cbr/\u003eCurrently about a hundred individuals are undergoing dialysis at the centre, a complicated procedure that requires them to spend hours connected to a machine three times a week. \u003cbr/\u003eThe HIV department of a psychiatric hospital on the outskirts of Donetsk has already run out of antibiotics, without which patients who have already developed AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) and are subject to chronic and life-threatening illnesses such as pneumonia cannot be treated.\u003cbr/\u003eThe hospital though still has some supplies of the antiretroviral drugs that are used to keep the HIV virus at bay.\u003cbr/\u003eThe head nurse of the HIV department said some patients are forced to pay for their own medicine, but if they cannot afford it, there is nothing the hospital can do to help them.\u003cbr/\u003eHIV patients left untreated have only slim chances of survival. \u003cbr/\u003eElena Murigina said that once the hospital's supply of antiretroviral drugs runs out, patients will
