Now arrhythmia in a person who is in a critical care unit, in a CCU, is something very common. We see all kinds of arrhythmia. Most of them can be treated immediately and are resolved. Sometimes there are worse arrhythmias, which I don't get the impression that this is the case with prime minister Sharon. This morning they say that his heart rate was stabilised and normal so I assumed that it was a short arrhythmia. And today he is okay. Dr. Medina walking past\u003cbr/\u003eIsraeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's doctors came under criticism on Thursday for failing to divulge a brain disease discovered after an initial, mild stroke suffered by the prime minister and for prescribing drugs that may have been inappropriate for a patient suffering from it, possibly causing his second, massive stroke.\u003cbr/\u003eThe criticism added to a growing chorus of questions about Sharon's treatment, and whether his doctors' decisions were the right ones. \u003cbr/\u003eThe head of the cardiology department at the Bikur Cholim Hospital said there were unconfirmed reports that Sharon had experienced an arrhythmia, which is an irregularity in the heart's natural rhythm.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Aaron Medina said it was important to monitor Sharon's condition in case he suffered any further arrhythmias.\u003cbr/\u003eMuch of the current criticism by outside experts relates to a decision by Sharon's doctors to put him on the anticoagulant Cloxane after his initial, minor stroke on December 18. \u003cbr/\u003eAt a news conference a few days later, doctors acknowledged that blood-thinners increased the risk of brain haemorrhage, but said the fear of a clot leading to another stroke was greater in this case.\u003cbr/\u003eThe debate gained momentum after the Haaretz daily newspaper revealed that Sharon also suffered from cerebral amyloid angiopathy, known as CAA, a disease that weakens the blood vessels in the brain and increases the risk of haemorrhaging. \u003cbr/\u003eCAA, which is linked to dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, is common in the elderly.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctors were prescribing the Cloxane until they could seal a small hole in Sharon's heart that they said caused Sharon's first stroke.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctors confirmed that they knew about the disease after the first stroke, but prescribed the blood thinners anyway, a move that outside experts criticised on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eAs Sharon lay comatose for an eighth day on Thursday, a brain scan showed positive results, indicating that the remnants of the blood in his brain from his December 4 stroke had been absorbed, hospital officials said in a statement.\u003cbr/\u003eIn response, doctors removed a tube they had inserted into Sharon's skull to relieve pressure on his brain, the statement from Hadassah Hospital said.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctors also successfully attached a new, more permanent, intravenous line to Sharon's arm, the hospital announced on Thursday. \u003cbr/\u003eSharon was returned
