It's great. It's extraordinary.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1971, at age 17, Lennox won a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London and it wasn't long after that she formed a band called The Tourists with Dave Stewart and enjoyed some success. \u003cbr/\u003eBut it was after the group's breakup that her career really rocketed. She formed a duo with Stewart called Eurythmics and went on to sell more 75 million records around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eLennox also had a hugely successful solo career after her debut album \"Diva\" launched in 1990, and she continues to delight her fans to this day.\u003cbr/\u003eThe singer-songwriter hopes that her longevity will be an inspiration to young female artists everywhere.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm almost 60 and I think it's relevant because pop music has always been about youth and beauty in a way and I see a lot of older guys in their seventies still on stage - not to say that I'm going to be on stage in my seventies - but I hope that in a way it will be encouraging for young female artists to see that you can still be relevant and be here and creative when you are your mother's age or even your grandmothers age,\" she explained. \"I feel very much alive and I've always wanted to be an artist that didn't compromise too much - although I've had to compromise a little bit here and there - I always wanted to hold onto my integrity and that's not always been easy but I think it's stood me in pretty good stead.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe event was a family affair with Lennox's daughters, Lola and Tali, also on the red carpet. The pair were full of pride for their mother.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's great. I mean it's kind of always like a surreal reminder,\" said Tali. \"To us she's just our mum and obviously we're proud of her and then you kind of realize the extent of everything she's done in her life. It's amazing, always. Yeah.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBeing the daughters of such an iconic figure has certainly given the girls plenty of inspiration - as well as a great wardrobe to raid.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We steal a lot of clothes,\" admitted Lola. \"She has them all kind of stored up together and there's so many moments of just like, 'Are you wearing that? I wore that in...' It's like, 'Oh, sorry. There's a sort of tidal wave of requests and the fact is I can't do everything and I'm certainly not Mother Teresa. There's nothing exceptional about me. I'm just somebody that... I have a passion, particularly for human rights, women's rights. It's my gender. I see the inequalities that still exist and I see how much further we have to go, especially for women in the developing world who are still so...it's almost like they live in, sometimes, in the middle ages and that really gives me a sense of like I have a platform and I want to use my platform well and even sometimes if it's just signing a T shirt to give to somebody for an auction.
