I didn't even know that anyone would be interested in them. I just felt inspired to share some life lessons that I've learnt over the past few years with children. SOUNDBITE Madonna (in English) \"When I published the book \"Sex\", I was in a point in my life where I was interested in pushing boundaries and questioning society, and dealing with taboo subjects. And I was into showing off. And I was interested in myself essentially. And when I think about where, and obviously I'm writing children's books now and I'm interested in children. And I look back at the journey that I've made from then until now, and I'm actually quite proud of my journey because the sex book was about me, and saying \"hey, look at me\". First of all it was suggested to me by one of my Kabbalah teachers, that I should, because I said to him, you know one of the things that you learn in Kabbalah is that the way to make miracles happening in your life is to do things, just for the sake of sharing. And, so, I thought to myself, what could I do that doesn't have anything to do with what I get out of it. And he suggested that I write children's books. And I didn't think much of the idea, but then I started paying a lot of attention to the books I was reading to my daughter and I did not think that there were a lot of spiritual lessons in a lot of the books that I was reading my daughter and it suddenly dawned on me that it actually was a good idea. She goes to the Lycee in London, the French school. I was having a meeting with her teacher and she told me, I asked her if she had a lot of friends and if she was social. And she said yes she hangs out with the 'English Roses', we call them the 'English Roses'. And I said what's that? She said oh it's a group of...there's four girls, they are all English and they sort of stick together because almost everybody else in this school is French. And I thought that it was really cute and clever that at a French school there would be a group of girls called 'The English Roses' and that gave me the idea for the title.\" \u003cbr/\u003e17. And I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm not doing it to become more famous, and I'm not doing it to become richer, and I'm not doing it because it's cool. The theme is envy, the characters dress like supermodels and the writer's best-known literary work until now was titled \"Sex.\" \u003cbr/\u003eMadonna's \"The English Roses\" was released worldwide on Monday, hitting the bookshelves in 30 languages -  including Albanian and Chinese  - and in 100 countries. \u003cbr/\u003eThe initial print run of the 48-page book, about four 11-year-old girls in London, is 1 million copies worldwide, with more than 750,000 in the United States, publisher Callaway Editions said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe book's theme focuses on the destructive power of jealousy and envy -  two emotions that Madonna felt toward prettier, richer girls as she was growing up in Bay City, Michigan. She also envied girls who had mothers - her own mother died when she was young. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Ultimately, what I want people to pay attention to, is the message of the story,\" Madonna said at a press conference at the swanky Ritz Hotel in Paris. \u003cbr/\u003eShe also said that writing the book was fulfilling in ways she hadn't experienced before in her previous work. \u003cbr/\u003eShe said she had more fun doing the book than anything else she has done creatively in her life because it wasn't for money or fame.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm doing it because I want to share something I know with children,\" she said. Proceeds of the book go to charity. \u003cbr/\u003eMadonna, 45, said her teacher in Kabbalah, or Jewish mysticism, suggested she write children's books to share the spiritual wisdom she gained from studying the subject. \u003cbr/\u003eShe said she also reads to her daughter, Lourdes, 6, and son, Rocco, 3, to teach them about life, love and the pursuit of happiness.\u003cbr/\u003eLourdes, whom Madonna calls Lola, was a trusted adviser when it came to writing her debut book, the singer said:\u003cbr/\u003e\"I tested them all out on her and she was very helpful to me, to the whole writing process.
