It even upscales your normal DVDs and BlueRays to that 4K resolution.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThere is, for now, very little video content available that can take advantage of the higher resolution.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, according to Page, a 4K television will benefit the consumer both now and in the future.\u003cbr/\u003e \"Lots and lots of movies are being filmed in 4K and then released on BlueRay in 2K and High Definition,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"But then, even when you have that, the TV is improving that normal BlueRay quality up to 4K. So, you got the best of both worlds.  And as and when 4K becomes more readily available in the future, then you are ready with the highest resolution.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Sony 4K will be available in the stores by December 2012.\u003cbr/\u003eThe TV industry has been looking for a technology that will get consumers to upgrade their HDTV sets.\u003cbr/\u003eSales are slumping after an initial wave of upgrades from standard-definition sets, and 3-D sets attract only a small number of consumers.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother company that is joining the club of oversized 4K television set providers is Japanese electronics maker Toshiba.\u003cbr/\u003eTheir new flagship television is also 84-inch wide and, just like Sony, Toshiba are not releasing what the TV will cost.\u003cbr/\u003eBut according to, Sasha Lange, Toshiba's marketing director for Central Europe, the company is confident that there is a market for oversized televisions.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are here in front of our first prototype of the 84 inch, quad full HD television which will arrive in the market on the first half of 2013,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It has 4 times the resolution of a full HD television. That's quite important because people want big screen at home and they have a viewing distance of three or four meters to the television so they need such a high resolution to have still a great picture on such a big screen.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Lange the 4K super resolutions becomes important when making large, home cinema-like television screens.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Its great to have a big picture at home, a big home cinema experience at home,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And so far this experience was limited by the resolution because screen could not become much bigger than 55 inches because the resolution was not enough. But people wish to have this great experience. So, by introducing quad full HD panels in this screen size it makes a lot of sense to have big screens at home.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe resolution undoubtedly gives the video a very crisp look.\u003cbr/\u003ePontus Gunnarsson, a writer for Swedish Technology website M3, was impressed after his first encounter with the 4K television\u003cbr/\u003e\"The detail is really impressive when you watch it up close,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eBut if you are not willing, or able, to set aside several thousands of dollars or Euros for a 4K beast of a television and you are looking for something smaller Panasonic might have released a television that suits your needs.\u003cbr/\u003eThis new 60-inch (152.4 cm) smart Viera television is also 3D compatible.\u003cbr/\u003eIt has built in Wifi and has been given an A+ energy rating.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Markus Wagenseil, Panasonic's Manager for Television product marketing, it represents a benchmark as far as LED televisions are concerned.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This 60 inch model is new and it represents the biggest LED television we have ever sold so far,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eThe idea is not to compete with the new Sony and Toshiba flagship products, Panasonic has other ranges for that, but rather this TV offers good value for money according to Wagenseil\u003cbr/\u003e\"Basically it is in our core lineup so its not the very high end but in terms of value for money then I guess it's the greatest 60 inch product out there in the market.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe price of the TV will vary depending on in which country it is sold but it will sell for about �2500 in the Euro area (US$3136)\u003cbr/\u003eSo whether you want a new huge television set with an almost outrageous resolution or a smaller, and cheaper, High Definition Television, there has been some news coming out of IFA already.\u003cbr/\u003eThe show opens officially to the public on Friday the 31st of August and closes on September the 5th.\u003cbr/\u003eBerlin - 30 August 2012\u003cbr/\u003e1.
