We watched them dozens of times and we were so happy with it. By the end of the 70s we heard about the super 8mm audio cinemas. We went to the same appliance shop and asked them about it and they said that they have these new talking cinemas - the brand is Royal Sound. So immediately I bought it with 120 Egyptian pounds (19.80 US Dollars) And since then I began collecting both types of cinemas.\"\u003cbr/\u003e15. While this K6 Max plays both 8mm and Super 8mm movies. And that K7 Max is the last of this cinema series and it also plays both types but it differs than the previous ones in holding and playing a huge reel. To switch between playing modes we us this switching button as we see. This is an Italian oldie 8 mm cinema and this is a Japanese audio video cinema. These cinemas were very important in our lives a long time ago. My father's hobby is collecting small old cinemas. Close of reels with film in background\u003cbr/\u003eAn 80-year-old Egyptian film enthusiast has amassed a priceless collection of more than 30 old 8mm films.\u003cbr/\u003eThe retired technician keeps them in perfect condition and he loves nothing more than to show his children and grandchildren his favourite movies from the past.\u003cbr/\u003eHere in the cinema district of Heliopolis in Cairo, a number of movie houses line the road.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd it was here in December 1931 that one of Egypt's biggest cinema fans was born.\u003cbr/\u003eMeet Soliman Aly Mostafa, a long time ago he worked as a cinema technician but after retiring 20 years ago, his work is his hobby. \u003cbr/\u003eMostafa collects 8mm and Super 8 mm film reels which have grown into a unique collection. \u003cbr/\u003eHis very first film reel was a gift from his late father,  who got him a manually cranked 35mm player to show the film.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen he was older Mostafa tried to invent a motor to turn it automatically, but unfortunately that came to an end when the gears he built broke the machine.\u003cbr/\u003eThe first 8mm cinemas appeared in 1932, but they didn't appear in Egypt until the late 1960s.\u003cbr/\u003eThe format was originally invented during the Great Depression as a cheaper version to the standard 16mm film. It quickly became popular for home movies and with amateur film makers.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen Mostafa heard about this new format he knew he wanted to get his hands on it - and that began a love affair with the format that's lasted half a century. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The first 8 mm silent cinema I purchased was from a downtown appliance shop. Although both standard 8 mm and Super 8 are 8 mm wide, Super 8 has a larger image area because of its smaller and more widely spaced perforations.\u003cbr/\u003eMostafa grew his collection, acquiring lots of different brands from around the world. As time went by and his machines started to break, Mostafa learnt how to refurbish them, despite a lack of the specialist parts required for maintenance. \u003cbr/\u003eHe also became interested in editing kits, and began splicing films together to get rid of the erroneous frames in every reel.\u003cbr/\u003eIn his collection of films is Bela Lugosi's Dracula from 1931, plus other classics like Boris Karloff's The Mummy, Julie Andrews' in the Sound Of Music and George Lucas' hit Star Wars movie from 1977.\u003cbr/\u003eColumbia Pictures 50th anniversary is also one of his favourite collectables.  \u003cbr/\u003eMostafa's collection is still enjoyed today and his family will often gather around in his front room to watch one of his films.\u003cbr/\u003eToday his daughter and granddaughter pay a visit, his granddaughter even helps him set up the projector screen.\u003cbr/\u003eSoha Soliman, his daughter, says: \"Because we are living in front of one of the oldest cinemas in Cairo, so it was our hobby each week to go to the movies every Thursday.
