Their guest was none other than Jackman's mother-in-law and Furman's mom Fay Duncan.\u003cbr/\u003eDuncan was one of three people honored at the Angel Ball for their outstanding philanthropic contributions to cancer research.  Jackman said he was really proud of Duncan. \"Deb and I are both patrons of the Fight Cancer Foundation,\" he said, and then Furman added, \"Which my mom founded in Australia.\" Jackman went on to say that Furman was being honored \"for her work there and I'm so thrilled because there is no one more deserving than Fay (Duncan) for this award - really - and I'm not just saying that to get brownie points, although it's good to maybe get some brownie points but I'm not. She's one of my favorite people in the world. She's an inspiration in every way and the work she's done - not only in the field of cancer but just in life - (referring to wife, Duncan's daughter). Look at this incredible woman she raised.\"  That prompted a laugh from both Furman and Duncan who said, \"Now, that's a tribute.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAlso honored were Simon de Pury, Chairman of de Pury de Pury and Clay B. Siegall, Ph.D., Co-Founder, President \u0026amp;amp; CEO of Seattle Genetics.\u003cbr/\u003eIconic singer Chaka Chan and singer-songwriter and producer Pharrell were among the performers at the event.  Pharrell, rushing to get inside responded to a question about why he attended the event by saying, \"To perform and support.  It's so awesome.\"\u003cbr/\u003eChan said it mean a lot to her to be able to support to the event. \"Well, it means a lot. It's not often - like I said - as an artist we get to lend ourselves to worthwhile things. This is very worthwhile to me so I'm always happy to give service.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Angel Ball is hosted by Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.  The foundation was formed in 1996 when Grammy-nominated songwriter Denise Rich lost her daughter Gabrielle to leukemia. Rich and her two surviving daughters thought creating the foundation was the best way to honor Gabrielle's memory.  Rich said she was touched that so many celebrities came out to support the annual gala. \"It's really a blessing and it's all about cancer and to eradicate cancer and to get really much needed funds for cancer research because, you know, with the government and everything it's very difficult. We're one of the largest sources of non-governmental funding for blood cancer research, for leukemia and my daughter passed at 27 from this disease and she didn't want anybody else to suffer the way she did and so here we are tonight.
