Various of class dancing\u003cbr/\u003eA seventy year old dance instructor in Beijing is getting down in class to a hip hop beat.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd it seems there are plenty of other older women prepared to join her.\u003cbr/\u003eThis hip hop dance crew are pretty unconventional. \u003cbr/\u003eThe all female group''s members are mainly pensioners, some are grandmothers. \u003cbr/\u003eRather than practicing their ball-room dancing skills, they are body-popping just like the professionals on music video channels. \u003cbr/\u003eInside an unassuming Beijing gym a small group of energetic pensioners is being put through their paces by a 70-year-old hip-hop dance teacher.\u003cbr/\u003eMeet Wu Ying, was an office clerk but is now a self-taught dance instructor.\u003cbr/\u003eThree times a week Wu leads a dozen pensioners in a two-hour workout session.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says at first she was attracted by the fashion and hair style of hip-hop dancers on TV.\u003cbr/\u003eNow Wu sports brightly coloured trousers, gold gym shoes, and the obligatory baseball cap.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says her conservative daughter at first was against her dancing to hip-hop, but over time has accepted her mother''s passion for street dance.\u003cbr/\u003eThe troupe has performed all across Beijing and have been guests on several Chinese television shows.\u003cbr/\u003eChen Ling, a pensioner, says her family was happy to see her become more energetic because of her new-found passion for hip-hop dance, but she admits that she delayed telling them for one month: \u003cbr/\u003e\"My family did not know I was learning hip-hop dancing at the very beginning. After around one month, I told them how excited I was and how I''m much more energetic than before. There was a difference in one month, and so they''re very happy for me as well.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHip hop dancer Chen Liyun says that dancing makes her feel much happier.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite some of the dancers being well over 60, the pace of their dance routines is by no means slow and sedate.\u003cbr/\u003eWu says her students have become happier and have more energy than before.\u003cbr/\u003eLocal fitness instructor, Wu Chunsong, says regular exercise can improve an older person''s immune system and make them feel more energetic.\u003cbr/\u003eHe adds regular exercise is beneficial to the blood pressure, heart and lungs.\u003cbr/\u003eOne thing is for sure: these pensioners are putting a bit of the Bronx into Beijing.\u003cbr/\u003e( Note: hip hop culture
