Mid shot exterior courthouse\u003cbr/\u003eThe death penalty case against al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui went to the jury on Wednesday after the prosecution asserted his lies were responsible for deaths in the 9/11 attacks and the defence argued he had no part in the plot.\u003cbr/\u003eThe nine men and three women on the jury will decide whether Moussaoui is to blame for at least one death that day. \u003cbr/\u003eIf so, a second phase of the trial will open that will determine whether he deserves to be executed.\u003cbr/\u003eIf not sentenced to execution, the 37-year-old French national will spend the rest of his life in prison.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Monday, Moussaoui stunned the court by asserting publicly for the first time that he was to fly a 747 jetliner into the White House on 9/11 despite having claimed for three years that he had no role in the plot. \u003cbr/\u003eInstead, previously he had said he was to be part of a possible later attack.\u003cbr/\u003eOutside the courthouse, Abraham Scott, whose wife Janice Marie Scott was killed in the Pentagon on 9/11, said she believed Moussaoui should be given the death penalty.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, family members of 9/11 victims gathered in a New York City courthouse again on Wednesday to watch the trial on closed-circuit television.\u003cbr/\u003eAs they left, some expressed hope that Moussaoui would be found
