And from an off-white or pinkish tweedy silk suit, the bowed pleated blouse attached to the skirt at the hip, to splendid\u003cbr/\u003etulle evening wear, all of Tuesday's offerings were wearable, if not affordable.\u003cbr/\u003eThe silk crepe blouse attached to the skirt, plus tweedy sleeves was a super idea for these easily-fitted suits with pleated or lightly flared skirts.\u003cbr/\u003ePiped navy and white suits with schoolgirl touches like a jabot or bow at the collar are always Chanel favourites.  A terrific navy wraparound coat-dress looked classy as only Chanel can produce it. \u003cbr/\u003eFor variety, a lilac coat dress looked delicious.  The slim black outfit with jewelled hip belt and a coral-silk lined jacket slipped into the skirt was fetching, sober, good for lunch or evenings.  The stretch ribboned jabot blouse over a full black-white plaid skirt with its heavy studded double belt was modern and classic at the same time.\u003cbr/\u003eLagerfeld kept evening looks simple but seductive: look at the lacy white blouse with a circular tulle skirt dusted with silvery sequins in fan patterns.  Or the dark tulle blouse with flounced double sleeves over a totally sequined, slithery trumpet skirt shaded from white to pink to black, a sensational number that spoke for the whole current Chanel mystique - glamour without glitz.\u003cbr/\u003eChristian Lacroix's collection was like a fandango dance - eye-catching, sexy, fun.  It wasn't particularly wearable by mortals, though.\u003cbr/\u003eA red shiny patent jacket with feathers under the fitted bodice, over an asymmetric skirt with huge silver circles printed on the dark silk made a fitting lead-in.\u003cbr/\u003eLacroix unfolded some splashy colour ideas.  The red stockings and huge pointed silver slippers with six-inch stiletto heels gave this collection its come-on details.  But whether it was white, puffy tulle or gazar looks, everything was in Lacroix's creative line.\u003cbr/\u003eHe brought out some puff-sleeved silky tops and perky slim skirts that could hark back to Josephine Baker days.  And all was colourful, from hot reds to golds.\u003cbr/\u003eHe loves Spain and the bullfight, so a multi-coloured, wispy Spanish-style shawl came out to top a puffy draped gazar white gown, as only Lacroix could imagine it.\u003cbr/\u003eEvenings at Lacroix are quite wonderful.  And the designer showed marvellous numbers from a tangerine strapless satin draped dress with pleated green-blue pouf behind to a beautiful bridal outfit, jeweled under a veiled look of white tulle.\u003cbr/\u003eThe French fashion designer ditched his traditional nautical striped tops for his collection this year, and presented a more sophisticated twist to his unique style of design.\u003cbr/\u003eIn fact, the collection began with a startling display of original tailoring - a bolero and a bustier which worked together to form a double-breasted suit jacket.\u003cbr/\u003eOther items included a floor length dress reminiscent of the puff-ball skirt with the front section taken out from above the waist and below the ribs, showing a risquĂŠ section of the model's underwear.\u003cbr/\u003eGaultier very much experimented with lines and cuts of the clothes for several of the items, but for Jean Paul fans, there were many elegant numbers on the catwalk, which showed the designer had not lost touch what real women want to wear.\u003cbr/\u003eThe show ended though in his typically mischievous style with a model dressed in a traditional wedding dress, carrying a baby under her veil.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough Gaultier was devestated by not getting the job as couturier at Christian Dior some years ago, he has proved himself as a top class
