SOT Takeshi Kitano (Japanese) \"I would say that on the surface you would say that my earlier films have the appearance of violence, like shooting guns at each other in the film, getting killed and stuff like that, so it's visually and physically violent.  But in \"Dolls\" what I depicted an ultimate form of violence which is death, and the death in \"Dolls\" falls upon the ordinary people who didn't expect their own death in the course of the narrative.  So in this sense, psychologically speaking it's even more violent than my other films that depict action or violence because it's more unexpected, it's more surprising that death falls upon the characters in \"Dolls\" than death falls upon the characters in my more action films.\" \u003cbr/\u003e13. SOT Takeshi Kitano (director): \"I'm feeling very thankful and grateful generally to the Venice film festival because five years ago, when I came here the first time, they gave me the Golden Lion and when I got back from Venice to Japan, the situation turned upside down literally overnight because I had been considered a comedian who occasionally made films as a hobby but suddenly they took me seriously as a director after the Golden Lion award so it's one the starting points for a change of recognition amongst the Japanese public about my film directing activities so I'm  very thankful.\"\u003cbr/\u003eLarry Clark once again courted controversy at the Venice film festival, only a year after shocking audiences with the film \"Bully\" a year ago.\u003cbr/\u003eThis year he is here with the film, \"Ken Park,\" which tells the story of three young boys and one girl who are growing up in the town of Visilia, California.\u003cbr/\u003eKen Park is the first character on the screen, who films himself shooting himself in the head in the first sequence of the movie.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film then explores his childhood friends; Peaches (Tiffany Limos), a girl who lives a double of life of being promiscuous with her peers whilst appearing virginal to her highly religious and obsessive father; Tate (James Ransome) is a warped and angry young man who lives with his grandparents; Shawn (James Bullard)  is also leading a double life - whilst appearing to the world that he is a young man in love he is experimenting in sex with his girlfriend's mother; and finally, Claude (Stephen Jasso), who is bullied continuously by his alcoholic father.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film has gained notoriety at the festival because of its graphic sexual scenes, including a prolonged sequence where one of the characters masturbates to a climax.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are no holds barred in the sexual scenes and a number of the audience walked out of the film in disgust at the rawness of the film making.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Clark and co-director Ed Lachman vehemently argue that the film is not pornographic and has these sequences to provoke reaction.\u003cbr/\u003eThe stories in the film are based on excerpts from Larry Clark's diaries as he grew up, as well as from a story in the New York post about a boy who murders his grandparents.\u003cbr/\u003eThere have been worries that because of the nature of the film that \"Ken Park\" may not get past the censors in many territories and so few people will be able to see it.  But, already many distributors have shown interest in the movie and it has already gained a distribution deal in the United Kingdom.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the most original films at the festival is \"Naqoyqatsi,\" a series of mesmerizing images which are accompanied by the music of both Phillip Glass and Yo-Yo Ma.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film title, \"Naqoyqatsi\" comes from the hopi language, and it means either a life of killing each other, war as a way of life or civilized violence.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Naqoyqatsi\" shows a series of images from everyday reality, visually altered with state-of-the-art digital techniques.  The images stream across the screen at random and the film's aim is to get people talking about how technology alters everything in the world today.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film is executive produced by Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh and is directed by Godfrey Reggio, who since 1984 has made a few films that have been non-verbal.\u003cbr/\u003eAround 80 percent of the film's footage was put together from stock footage from scientific and military films, cartoons, television shows, commercials, newsreels, commercials and sports documentaries.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Naqoyqatsi\" is the third and final film of \"The Qatsi trilogy\" which began with the groundbreaking \"Koyaanisqatsi\" and was following up with the movie \"Powaqqatsi.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe film has no coherent storyline but leaves it up to the audience to take what they want from the movie.\u003cbr/\u003eTakeshi Kitano, a former winner of the Venice film festival's most prestigious prize, the Golden Lion, returns to Venice once again with his new film, \"Dolls.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"Dolls\" is inspired by the dolls of Bunraku theatre, and follows three stories of undying love.\u003cbr/\u003eMatsumoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima) and Sawako (Miko Kanno) were once a happy couple, but parents and success interfere with their relationship and leave Matsumoto to make a difficult choice which leads to tragedy.\u003cbr/\u003eHiro (Tatsuya Mihashi) thirty years before was a poor factory worker who left his loving girlfriend to pursue his dreams of making it big. Now, he finds himself strangely drawn to the park where he and his former girlfriend used to meet.\u003cbr/\u003eThirdly, Haruna (Kyoko Fukada) is a former pop star who now stares out to sea through her half-bandaged face.  Nukui (Tsutomu Tageshige) is probably her biggest fan and he turns up to see her in order to prove it.\u003cbr/\u003eKitano began his career under the pseudonym of Beat Takeshi, who was one of Japan's most famous comedians.  He then went on to be a talk show host, a sports commentator, a columnist a songwriter and a novelist.\u003cbr/\u003eHe began acting in films in 1980 before making his directorial debut in 1989 with \"Sono Otokobo, kyobo ni tsuki\".  He began showing his films at film festivals in 1993 and he won first prize at the Taormina festival that year with his film, \"Sonatine.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, it was the Venice film festival that marked the start of his career as a serious director in Japan with his film \"Hana-Bi\" which won the Golden Lion in 1997.\u003cbr/\u003eUnlike his previous films, this film does not feature the
