I think what was unusual was that journalists and diplomats were allowed into the court at least for one day, that's something that's never happened before and that has to be an attempt by the regime to increase the credibility of this process. I think the regime is convinced it's right and that Suu is guilty but they understand that many people do not and they're trying to make this a credible process. Of course, they won't. Wide of Jagan at internet cafe\u003cbr/\u003eMyanmar's junta alleged on Friday that anti-government forces engineered an American's illegal visit to the house of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi to embarrass the government and aggravate its relations with the West.\u003cbr/\u003eAuthorities detained John Yettaw after he left Suu Kyi's heavily guarded compound earlier this month and charged the Nobel peace laureate with violating terms of her house arrest by allowing the American to stay at her home without official permission.\u003cbr/\u003eThe offence is punishable by up to five years' imprisonment. Her trial began on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eSecurity remained tight around Insein prison in Yangon, where Suu Kyi's trial was resuming on Friday, while international criticism intensified on the military regime that has repeatedly found pretexts for keeping her in detention over most of the past two decades.\u003cbr/\u003eResponding to anger abroad over the trial, Myanmar's Foreign Minister U Nyan Win was quoted in the New Light of Myanmar as telling his Japanese counterpart that the Yettaw incident was manufactured by internal and external anti-government forces, a term usually referring to pro-democracy groups.\u003cbr/\u003eIt comes at a time when the United States, Japan and the European Union were reviewing their policies toward Myanmar.\u003cbr/\u003eThe paper reported that Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone called on May 18 to express his concern about Suu Kyi's trial.\u003cbr/\u003eCritics have accused the junta of using Yettaw's visit as a pretext to keeping Suu Kyi in detention through polls scheduled for next year, the culmination of the junta's \"roadmap to democracy,\" which has been criticised as a fig leaf for continued military rule.\u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi, who is being held at the infamous Insein Prison along with scores of other political prisoners, had been scheduled to be freed May 27 after six consecutive years under house arrest.\u003cbr/\u003eShe has been in detention without trial for more than 13 of the past 19 years.\u003cbr/\u003eHer supporters, meanwhile, fear that the removal of barriers that used to maintain roadblocks on either end of the street where her house is located is an ominous sign, suggesting she may not be returning home anytime soon.\u003cbr/\u003eThe day she was taken away to prison, the barbed wire barricades were pulled aside, and then hauled away. \u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi is standing trial with two female members of her party who live with her, and Yettaw, the American man who triggered the charges by swimming across a lake to Suu Kyi's property under the cover of darkness earlier this month and sneaking uninvited into her home.\u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi's lawyers have said she asked Yettaw to leave, but allowed him to stay for two days after he said he was too tired and ill to immediately swim back across the lake.\u003cbr/\u003eThe trial this week has mostly focused on the motives and methods of Yettaw, a part-time contractor from Falcon, Missouri. \u003cbr/\u003eThe trial was briefly opened to reporters and diplomats on Wednesday but otherwise has been closed.\u003cbr/\u003eLarry Jagan, a political analyst said he believed allowing journalists and diplomats in to the courtroom was \"unusual\" which has \"never happened before.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"That has to be an attempt by the regime to increases the credibility of this process. \"immediately\". \u003cbr/\u003eEU foreign ministers have denounced the trial, urging Myanmar's neighbours to push for a restoration of democracy in the Southeast Asian country also known as
