has been welcomed by politicians in the United State, including a senior U-S senator.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Republican minority leader, Trent Lott , called the decree a positive move and urged Yugoslavia to hand over all indicted war criminals.\u003cbr/\u003eHis comments came as a Yugoslav  government decree enabling Slobodan Milosevic's extradition to the U-N war crimes tribunal in The Hague went into effect on Sunday.\u003cbr/\u003eMilosevic's  Belgrade lawyer announced he would challenge the measure in Yugoslavia's constitutional court.\u003cbr/\u003eToma Fila, head of Milosevic's ten-member defence team, rushed into Belgrade's Central Prison on Sunday morning, to inform his client of the details of the decree adopted by the Yugoslav Cabinet the day before.\u003cbr/\u003eFila has attacked the measure as \"legal piracy\". \u003cbr/\u003eAfter the meeting, Fila said his client had given him instructions for subsequent moves but would not divulge any details before Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eMilosevic's wife and head of the communist Yugoslav Left party, Mirjana Markovic, was also seen entering prison gates shortly before noon.\u003cbr/\u003eShe was accompanied by her daughter-in-law Milica Milosevic. \u003cbr/\u003eThe decree, adopted two years after Milosevic was indicted for crimes against humanity in Kosovo, cleared the way for the former president and other Yugoslav suspects to be sent to the U-N tribunal, overruling current legislation that bans Yugoslav citizens' extradition.\u003cbr/\u003eThe West has demanded Milosevic be extradited as a condition for billions of dollars of desperately needed aid for Yugoslavia, ravaged by Milosevic's 13-years of misrule.\u003cbr/\u003eOnce surrendered, Milosevic would be the only head of state indicted while in office to be brought before the court.\u003cbr/\u003eThe tribunal was established in 1993 to prosecute crimes committed during the wars of the 1990s in former Yugoslavia.\u003cbr/\u003eMilosevic has been in Belgrade's central prison since April 1 pending an investigation into allegations of corruption and abuse of power during his 13-year
