suspects.\u003cbr/\u003e    (Dov Hikind, New York Assemblyman)\u003cbr/\u003e    \"That profile is young muslims of Middle Eastern and south east asian background.\" \u003cbr/\u003e    Democratic New York assemblyman Dov (pronouncer: \"I dove into the pool\") Hikind says he will introduce legislation making it legal for police to consider ethnicity when performing counter-terrorism operations.\u003cbr/\u003e    \"The fact is that 99 percent of them happen to fit that profile, all we're saying is use ethnicity as one of the factors especially in a case where we're talking about the lives of thousands of people.\"\u003cbr/\u003e    To back up his proposed law: Hikind points to alleged underwear bomber Umar Farouk  Abdulmutallab (OO'-mahr fah-ROOK' ahb-DOOL'-moo-TAH'-lahb); the five U-S citizens arrested on terror charges in Pakistan earlier this month; and the 9-11 hijackers.\u003cbr/\u003e    \"The police, the authorities their hands should not be tied by being politically correct if they want to go after six people at one time who happen to be of a particular ethnic group they should be able to do that.\"\u003cbr/\u003e    The A-C-L-U disagrees, saying that racial profiling is a waste of resources and an infringement on civil liberties.\u003cbr/\u003e    (Mike German, ACLU)\u003cbr/\u003e    \"We're all interested in making airlines and society in general safer from people who would do it harm, it's a matter of making sure the government's efforts are focused where they have reason to believe someone is doing something wrong, rather than just implicating the rights of innocent people  \u003cbr/\u003e    Hikind faces an uphill battle to have the law passed.\u003cbr/\u003e    It appears to have lackluster support in the state assembly, and
