strength\" was needed for the role. \u003cbr/\u003e\"He concluded that his powers are falling victim to age,\" said 89-year-old Georg Ratzinger, who spoke to his brother on the telephone on Monday night.\u003cbr/\u003eRatzinger said his brother was planning to stay out of the public eye following his retirement at the end of the month.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said that the pope had experienced \"turbulent years with big requirements for him.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBenedict grew increasingly frail as he shouldered the monumental task of purging the Catholic world of a sex abuse scandal that festered under his predecessor John Paul II and exploded during his reign into the church's biggest crisis in decades, if not centuries.\u003cbr/\u003eRatzinger said his brother was now hoping to lead a quiet\u003cbr/\u003elife in the Vatican. \u003cbr/\u003eA prolific writer during his papacy, Ratzinger said that was also something his brother would now likely end.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I don't think he will write anymore,\" Ratzinger said.\u003cbr/\u003eRudolf Voderholzer, the Bishop of Regensburg who is also in charge of the Pope's theological institute that publishes his work, said even if Benedict does write, no more would be published during his lifetime to avoid being seen as interfering in the work of the next pope. \u003cbr/\u003eThe pope also had no plans to move back to his German homeland, but would instead stay in the Vatican, Ratzinger said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe pope's brother said he believed the role of pontiff was likely to \"remain with a European.\"  \u003cbr/\u003eGeorg Ratzinger is himself a Catholic priest and before his retirement was the conductor of the Regensburg cathedral choir. \u003cbr/\u003eThe two brothers are very close and Ratzinger said he's already planning to visit his brother later in the year.\u003cbr/\u003eRegensburg is considered a conservative region in Germany's most staunchly Catholic state of
