Wide of Javid playing Tar with Shirin Ravandeh singing\u003cbr/\u003eBahnam Javid is an Iranian musician with a unique talent.\u003cbr/\u003eNot only has he mastered - and now teaches - 16 different traditional Persian instruments, but he has also been blind since childhood.\u003cbr/\u003eBehnam Javid chooses an instrument from his wall.\u003cbr/\u003eIn his room filled with his collection of traditional Persian instruments, he sits down to play the Tanbur.\u003cbr/\u003eJavid has been blind since early childhood but has not let his disability interrupt his passion for music.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Tanbur - a lyre-like instrument dating back to the Sassanid era - is just one of 16 instruments this Iranian maestro has mastered.\u003cbr/\u003eIn fact Javid's exceptional talent has stunned many Persian musicians because mastering each of the Persian musical instruments requires a life-time dedication and practice.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen Javid has finished with the Tanbur he swaps it for the Daf - one of Iran's most ancient frame drums.\u003cbr/\u003eJavid can play traditional instruments including the Tar, Sitar, Dombak and Tunbak, the Oud, Kamanche and Qichak. He also plays the violin.\u003cbr/\u003eNote: the Tar is one of the most important instruments in Persian traditional music. The Sitar is another important string instrument. The Dombak or Tunbak is a goblet drum), while the Kamanche is a Persian bowed string instrument. The Oud is a pear-shaped stringed instrument). The Qichak is another bowed stringed Iranian instrument. \u003cbr/\u003eHe also excels in the violin, the Divan - the largest instrument in the family of plucked instruments; the Rabab, another bowed stringed instrument which consists of a small, usually rounded body; the Qanun, a long-necked lute which is popular in Turkey and Iran; the Shouranqiz, another stringed instrument with a larger base, as well as a special Tunbak used in Zurkhaneh or Persian traditional sports halls.\u003cbr/\u003eBehnam Javid says collecting various musical instruments has been his major hobby and source of enjoyment.\u003cbr/\u003e\"My hobby has become collecting musical instruments. I have been teaching music for 18 years.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBorn 1974 in Tehran, Javid says music is his whole life for him and that he has been teaching music since he was 18.\u003cbr/\u003eHe has trained several hundred music lovers in the past two decades and currently is he's the leader of the Housiyan musical band.\u003cbr/\u003eHe and his band have won several top titles in Iran's International musical festivals since 2007.\u003cbr/\u003eJavid has composed three best-selling pieces : Sahar (Dawn), Ghoroub (Dusk) and Land of Love. \u003cbr/\u003eWhen asked what's his favourite musical instrument he declines to answer, but he says his instruments are like his children and that he can not discriminate between them.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I can't choose between my instruments because they are somehow like my children. However, I can tell you I really love Kamancheh.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHe names Darioush Zargari,, Hasan Zargani, Mohammad Reza Lotfi,  and Samer Habibi among the musicians who inspire him the most.\u003cbr/\u003eJavid's mother can't help crying when her son plays the Kamancheh.\u003cbr/\u003eAt present he has 40 students who attend his humble music school in the basement of his parent's house.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is not just his exceptional musical talents that have made his trainees adore him - he's also said to be very patient when teaching, according to Shirin Ravandeh, a singer and Javid's music trainee.\u003cbr/\u003e\"He has a profound musical knowledge.
