I was provided with multiple data and studies suggesting that the phenomena exists in all states and pertains to diverse forms of violence, including murders, forced prostitution, sexual assaults and domestic violence among others. Gender-based discrimination results in ill treatment of women and girls and curtails their access to services. Close up of wooden cross\u003cbr/\u003eA UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women in Mexico said Friday that she found \"high levels\" of violence against women \"in society at large, including within indigenous communities and migrant populations.\"\u003cbr/\u003eYakin Ertük, who ended a six-day fact finding trip, said that the violence was founded in all Mexican states and  included \"murders, forced prostitution, sexual assaults and domestic violence among others.\"  \u003cbr/\u003eErtuk is gathering research on violence against women in Mexico. \u003cbr/\u003eLast month, a U.N. committee said Mexico was guilty of \"grave and systematic\" violations of the rights of women for mishandling investigations into the killings of more than 300 women in Ciudad Juarez.\u003cbr/\u003eErtuk did not meet any top government officials during her mission to several Mexican cities.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring her trip Ertük mostly met with lower level government authorities, leaders of organisations that work with human rights abuses, victims and families of victims of violence against women.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an interview with the AP following a press conference hosted at the Mexico City UN headquarters, Ertuk acknowledged that President Vicente Fox had not invited her to meet with him. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I am sure they have a good reason.
