Close up of groom and bride at altar\u003cbr/\u003eJapan's marriage rate is tumbling fast. \u003cbr/\u003eAlmost 70 percent of Japanese men and 60 percent of women aged 20 to 34 are unmarried, according to the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs. \u003cbr/\u003eYet many singles are determined to tie the knot, and are starting to turn to marriage prep schools and counsellors for help find the love of their lives. \u003cbr/\u003eLike countless Japanese women, 28 year-old Akiko Nagayama longed to walk down the aisle in a classic white wedding dress. \u003cbr/\u003eYet very few of her peers of the same age are tying the knot.\u003cbr/\u003eMore Japanese under 35 are unmarried than ever before. \u003cbr/\u003eMany women are putting careers over marriage, and men are less actively pursuing partners because of financial woes and a shaky job market. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I can speak to my partner about everything without having to hide anything, so I decided to marry him,\" says Nagayama. \"Having someone like that gives me the courage to work hard. This is coming to fruition in the form of marriage. Two people are now forming a family, a family including both our parents. That's what great about marriage.\" \u003cbr/\u003eEarlier this year, Infini Marriage Prep School in Tokyo opened its doors for singles seeking to meet marriage partners. \u003cbr/\u003eIt welcomes men and women, but most of its 35 students are women in their 30s. \u003cbr/\u003eMany of them want to meet well-to-do men, typically doctors. \u003cbr/\u003eStudents pay $2,220 for unlimited access to its classes.\u003cbr/\u003eThey learn to set a table well and how to express themselves emotionally to members of the opposite sex. \u003cbr/\u003eThey also train to talk, walk and present themselves in sophisticated, mild-mannered fashion. \u003cbr/\u003eMany students hope to improve their odds of wooing prospective partners and also their parents, who can make or break a relationship.\u003cbr/\u003eStudents at the school and others like them have been dubbed \"konkatsu\", or marriage-hunters, by two sociologists who wanted to encourage singles to pursue marriage more aggressively. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Konkatsu\" is short for \"kekkon katsuko\", a popular term that means job hunters. \u003cbr/\u003eThere are plenty of \"konkatsu\" in Japan. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong the 20 to 34 age group, nearly 70 percent of men and 57 percent of women are single, according to Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs. \u003cbr/\u003eBut 90 percent of both men and women say they want to get married some day, according to a survey by National Institute of Population and Social Security Research.\u003cbr/\u003e34-year-old Infini student Reiko Suzuki she says meets many men through her work as a designer, but she lacks confidence when it comes to dating. \u003cbr/\u003eShe admits she is starting to panic, because she wants to have children. \u003cbr/\u003e\"They have a lot of classes here that I've never taken before, so it's very motivating. My self-confidence won't grow immediately, but by taking these classes, it's growing slowly,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen women first meet potential mother-in-laws, Infini says it's vital to make a strong impression. \u003cbr/\u003eSuzuki is training to bow with perfect form.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"You should lift it up a bit more,\" says Etsuko Satake, Infini's principal. \"You're showing too much cleavage to your mother-in-law. Yes, that's better. If you're wearing a dress, it gets pulled down when you bow, so whatever you're wearing inside gets pulled down as well. Should we try the greeting again?\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe school has organized a mock-date with Suzuki and a male actor. \u003cbr/\u003eInfini's principal watches closely to see how Suzuki performs. \u003cbr/\u003eShe takes note of every single detail.\u003cbr/\u003eBut some analysts argue that Japanese women's behaviour is already refined enough. \u003cbr/\u003eTakayo Yamamoto, Founder of Onnano Yokubou, or Women's Desire, insists it's Japanese men who need to improve their dating, relationship and marriage etiquette.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Japanese women are competent at work and they have many hobbies and certifications,\" says Takayo Yamamoto, founder of Onnano Yokubou, or Women's Desire, a think-tank specializing in women's behavior. \"They take unpaid leave to go abroad for training. They don't need to polish themselves anymore,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003eMany singles seeking to meet life partners are turning to a growing number of marriage consulting agencies like O-Net. \u003cbr/\u003eClients pay over $1000 to register and monthly payments of $120. \u003cbr/\u003eThe company says members can then meet hundreds of well-suited marriage partners.\u003cbr/\u003eYet many singles are still weary of using this type of service. \u003cbr/\u003eCouples who meet using consulting services like O-Net often don't tell their own friends and families how they met. \u003cbr/\u003e\"So for us, right now, it might be embarrassing if people find out,\" says Atsuki Nishiguchi, Public Relations Officer with O-Net. \"But in 10 years' time, it would be nice if people won't be so embarrassed.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThirty-seven year-old divorcee Maho Harada has come to find out about O-Net's services. \u003cbr/\u003eEven after hearing she could meet countless potential mates, she isn't convinced she can find the right man.\u003cbr/\u003e\"With my life partner, I'd like both of us to continue doing what we love to do, like work or hobbies, while raising children,\" says Harada. \"Someone who will help with chores.
