Bozzo walks away\u003cbr/\u003eLaura Bozzo, Peru's controversial TV talk show queen, won her freedom from house arrest on Friday after three years of being detained in her production studio. \u003cbr/\u003eBozzo still faces charges that she accepted three million US dollars from ex-spy chief Vladimiro Montesinos to support ex-President Alberto Fujimori's fraud-filled re-election campaign.\u003cbr/\u003eBut a court tribunal ruled that the blonde star of the NBC Telemundo networks programme \"Laura\" would be free of Sunday. \u003cbr/\u003eBozzo, 53, testified in April that she had been hopelessly in love with Montesinos, but has steadfastly denied she took bribes from him. \u003cbr/\u003eBozzo, dressed in a white designer jacket, sat tensely in court, her lips pursed and head trembling, as she listened to a court clerk read the ruling aloud. \u003cbr/\u003eShe gave a thumbs-up to her boyfriend when she realised the court order was in her favour and wiped tears from her cheeks. \u003cbr/\u003eSince her July 17, 2002, arrest, Bozzo has taped her Spanish-language show from a Lima studio-turned gilded cage, offering tales of incest, infidelity, teenage pregnancy and prostitution. \u003cbr/\u003eShe's one of Spanish language television's top rated stars in the United States and much of Latin America.\u003cbr/\u003eBut in Peru the programme was pulled from the air after Fujimori fled to Japan in November 2000 and Montesinos, now serving a 15-year sentence, was captured in Venezuela the following year. \u003cbr/\u003eBozzo faces up to seven years in prison and a maximum fine of 20 million Peruvian soles (US$6 million) if convicted. \u003cbr/\u003eHer release order was based on a controversial law rescinded last week by Congress after being in effect less than a week, that allowed her to count her house arrest as actual jail time. \u003cbr/\u003eProsecutors objected, arguing the court was setting a precedent for dozens of Montesinos' alleged accomplices, who could use the rescinded law to win early prison releases from loopholes in Peru's inefficient legal system.\u003cbr/\u003eThe precedent had been set a week earlier by a pair of sibling tabloid newspaper publishers. They were released from prison five months after a court convicted them of being on Montesinos' payroll in exchange for smearing Fujimori's political
