Were those complaints all on one procedure? Were they on all different procedures? Were they settled without the doctor having any say, as they were in my case where I had no choice in the matter when insurance companies make an economic decision to settle a claim?\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION:  Dr. Gary Hall, Ophthalmologist\u003cbr/\u003eOne Capitol Hill lawmaker wants to unmask nearly 200 doctors and dentists who are the subject of the most reports.\u003cbr/\u003eRepresentative Tom Bliley is considering posting the identities of those doctors on the Internet, according to a staff member who asked not to be identified.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the American Medical Association is against patients having access to that kind of information.\u003cbr/\u003eIt says raw data on malpractice payments doesn't reflect a doctor's competency.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Dr. Sidney Wolfe of the Public Citizen's Health Research Group disagrees.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"I am sick and tired of the patronizing attitude of the American Medical Association towards American patients. Patients can easily understand the difference between a doctor who has negligently done unnecessary surgery on four or five patients or a doctor who didn't pay their licensing fee and who had their license fined because they were practising without a licence.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Dr. Sidney Wolfe, Director, Public Citizen's Health Research Group\u003cbr/\u003eChuck Cummins, a patient of Dr. Hall, seems to bear Wolfe's theory out.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter extensive research, Cummins says he picked Hall to operate on his eyes.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Hall says that the 27 complaints lodged against him amount to less than one-tenth (0.1) of one percent of the eye operations he's performed since 1982.\u003cbr/\u003eKnowing Hall's record has not shaken Cummins' confidence in his doctor.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think he's a genius.
