I looked around to see what was going on, and I looked back and I saw a whole bunch of people staggering and falling all over the place and bleeding and what not.\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Tommy Macmullen, Petrol Station Attendant\u003cbr/\u003eAt least 13 people were injured in the accident and later taken to area hospitals.\u003cbr/\u003eAuthorities say the van was spotted but not chased by officers, as in previous accidents involving vehicles packed with illegal immigrants in Southern California.\u003cbr/\u003ePolice say the accident is the result of a recent crackdown on the smuggling of illegal immigrants into the U-S, which is putting a lot of pressure on the smugglers.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003eThe smugglers are becoming a little more desperate, not so much as the people who are on these vans. They are not driving these vans. It's the smugglers who drive these vans. He is the one who basically doesn't care about the people that are with them. He just wants his money. Then greed comes into play.
