Pull out from boy on swing to James McNally and family\u003cbr/\u003eTwo members of a fire station in mid-Manhattan have very different stories of survival from 9/11, five years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth had close calls. Both are still alive. Both feel lucky but also sad for those who died. \u003cbr/\u003eOne survived with his entire company. The other lost many of his. \u003cbr/\u003eToday both men work at Engine 34, Ladder 21. They carry inside them the memories of that day five years ago, and the change that it brought to their lives and their approach to living.\u003cbr/\u003eNew York Fire Department Engine 34, Ladder 21, on 38th Street, lost seven members when the two towers crashed to the ground. The company was one of the first to respond to the World Trade Center. \u003cbr/\u003eCaptain James McGlynn was working with Engine 39 at the time.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We were assigned to walk up stairway B. He is now a captain with Engine 34, Ladder 21, which lost seven men that day. He often thinks with sadness about his former colleagues, and about the fact that it was almost by chance that he had switched with another firefighter.\u003cbr/\u003eMcNally said he tries not to focus solely on those lost, even though their portraits look down on him every day.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I focus on my family. I focus, I have three kids now,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eMcNally's wife, orthodontist Denise McNally, remembers that morning well.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Jim was originally scheduled to work Monday and
