At the same time many people buy things because they are trophy pieces and it is true to say that there are well known artists and as you become more well known the pieces become more expensive. Even with Gleb Goloubetski actually, his pieces have become more expensive. So as an artist becomes more well known and especially after they've died of course, then the pieces become rarer. So Jackson Pollock being sold by an American to an American in America, obviously he is what's seen as one of the hugest American artists and therefore the potential is massive. \u003cbr/\u003eMany claim that in the UK at least, art is becoming more - not less - accessible. \u003cbr/\u003eAt auction house Christies, in London, an array of post-war art, Impressionist and modern works, resulted in sales worth some US$491(m)million.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile in New York a number of works of art, Impressionist and modern, sold for a record-breaking US$238 (m)million at Sotheby's auction house earlier in the month.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite the huge amount of money exchanging hands at the top end of the international art market; many experts remain convinced that art can be accessible to all. \u003cbr/\u003eGraham Powell, a gallery owner in north London, says he thinks people can be swayed by the price tag of a painting.\u003cbr/\u003eHe has arranged an exhibition of works by Russian artist Gleb Goloubetski to appeal to people from across the social spectrum.\u003cbr/\u003ePowell says Goloubetski's work appeals to many different types of people.\u003cbr/\u003eGoloubetski was born in Omsk in Siberia in 1975 and studied Fine Art at the Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg.\u003cbr/\u003eHe works primarily with oil paints and uses only palette knives to apply paint to the canvas, creating paintings rich in texture and tone.  \u003cbr/\u003eGleb says he hopes to make quality work that is accessible to everyone.\u003cbr/\u003eGleb has always been inspired by the places he visits, including water lilly gardens, old  boats in France, the Italian city of Venice and antique objects. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says he never makes sketches or studies but relies on memory.\u003cbr/\u003eHe works in a traditional Impressionist style and says he hopes his work is understood by everyone.\u003cbr/\u003ePowell says the galley's 'open door' policy encourages people with an interest in art to come in and see the works on display at the gallery. \u003cbr/\u003eMary Alice, a representative from the Arts Council England, a public body set up 60 years ago to help encourage the arts, says art still enriches lives. \u003cbr/\u003eBarry Laden, an independent art critic and collector, says people should buy art to enjoy it.\u003cbr/\u003eMany
