After 30 sessions, he walked on his own.\u003cbr/\u003eThat still had to be followed by a year of chemotherapy at the Motol hospital, where Ashya was admitted last week.\u003cbr/\u003eA day after it was completed, he passed an entrance exam at a Prague high school where he started his studies two weeks ago.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said he was trying to put behind him what he had to go through but there was one thing he couldn't forget. \u003cbr/\u003eDuring the proton radiation, when he had to lie motionless with a fixation mask on his head, he was listening to \"Two Years Holiday,\" a novel by French author Jules Verne, played on a cassette recorder.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the tough period of chemotherapy, Miki continued with studies, following an individual plan with his mother as teacher. \u003cbr/\u003eHe was also doing exercises and undergoing rehabilitation therapy. \u003cbr/\u003eThose activities, he believes, helped him shorten the treatment by one month.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Both of us, my husband and I, we tried to do our best to help him, to support him but there is only a limited amount of things you can do for your child in such a situation,\" his mother, Karolina Rothova said. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's him, the one who fights.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAshya's case caused an international uproar after his parents removed him from an English hospital last month without doctors' consent and police launched a manhunt to find him.\u003cbr/\u003eHis parents, Brett and Naghmeh King, had fought a protracted battle to get him proton beam treatment, which targets tumours more directly than radiotherapy, but isn't yet available for brain tumour patients in Britain.\u003cbr/\u003eMonday's treatment for Ashya was the first of 30 planned radiation sessions, the proton centre said, combined with chemotherapy to be applied at Motol where he was admitted last week.\u003cbr/\u003eSeptember 15, 2014\u003cbr/\u003e1.
