End of news conference\u003cbr/\u003eThe World Health Organisation on Sunday said it would not be \"prudent\" to try and predict when, or if, the pandemic alert for swine flu would be elevated from a Phase 5 to a Phase 6 - the highest alert level. \u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking at a daily swine flu briefing in Geneva, Gregory Hartl, WHO spokesperson for Epidemic and Pandemic Diseases said moving to a Phase 6 would require \"sustained human transmission in communities outside of the Americas.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"We don't know when that will happen, certainly we remain on alert in case that happens but it would not be prudent to make a prediction in that regard,\" Hartl said.\u003cbr/\u003eHartl released the latest statistics during the news briefing, showing 787 confirmed cases of swine flu, from 17 countries.\u003cbr/\u003eThe updated statistics came as US health officials were cautiously optimistic on Sunday that the new swine flu is not as dangerous as first feared.\u003cbr/\u003eThey continued to urge people to keep taking commonsense precautions, and say they cannot predict if it will return next winter.\u003cbr/\u003eSwine flu is now in 30 states and counting, authorities say it is spreading just as easily as regular winter flu. \u003cbr/\u003eThe latest tally from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention shows 226 confirmed cases across 30 states.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Mexico's health secretary, Jose Angel Cordova said the epidemic in his country \"is in its declining phase,\"  although the number of confirmed cases has increased slightly, from 473 to 506.\u003cbr/\u003eThis total includes the 19 deaths in Mexico that have been confirmed to have been caused by swine flu, Cordova he said.\u003cbr/\u003eMexican authorities have tested 1,498 people for the virus, and Cordova said Sunday that just more than half, or 53 percent, of confirmed cases were women.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, Britain's confirmed swine flu cases rose to 18, and it appeared two of the new cases were linked to travel in the United States.\u003cbr/\u003eEngland's Health Protection Agency also confirmed two new cases of the virus Sunday in school-age children who live in London. \u003cbr/\u003eOne was a 14-year-old girl from north London who caught the illness in Britain from someone who had travelled to Mexico.\u003cbr/\u003eThe other was an 11-year-old from south London who city health officials said had recently visited the United States. \u003cbr/\u003eThe WHO also said, at Sunday's briefing, that pork products were safe to use. The declaration came a day after Canadian officials said pigs on a farm were infected with the swine flu virus.\u003cbr/\u003eWHO and other organisations have been under pressure from pork lobbies to
