growing\u003cbr/\u003eincreasingly optimistic that the economy and earnings will turn around in the second half of the year.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Dow Jones industrial average surged 343.15, or 3.1 percent, to close at 11,216.12.\u003cbr/\u003eThe last time the blue chip index finished above 11,000 was September 14 when it ended at 11,087.47.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd, the last time the Dow ended higher was September 12 when it closed at 11,233.23.\u003cbr/\u003eThe market's broader indicators also rose.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Nasdaq composite index climbed 80.94, or 3.9 percent, at 2,166.52, and the
