Wide shot of planes on tarmac\u003cbr/\u003eKenya's lucrative tourism industry is under threat as a result of the post-election violence which has gripped the East African country.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Friday, AP Television spoke to a number of holidaymakers entering the departures terminal at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.\u003cbr/\u003eItalian tourist Caterina was leaving the country on her scheduled day of departure, but admitted \"the last days have been very difficult, not for us, but for the people of Kenya.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSince Kenya's disputed presidential election on December 27, violence has killed 300 people and displaced 100,000 in what was once lauded as one of the most stable democracies in Africa.\u003cbr/\u003eBut it wasn't just tourists who left the country on Friday.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I am leaving because I am actually afraid,\" said Kenyan, Brenda Simps.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I am leaving for Liberia. I was in Liberia during the war and it started like this, so I don't want to take chances,\" she added.\u003cbr/\u003eKenya's tourism industry brings in some 900 (m) million US dollars a year and attracts more than one (m) million visitors a year.\u003cbr/\u003eBut many businesses have closed down during the unrest and some foreign governments have advised their citizens against travel to the usually tourist-friendly nation.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It is very upsetting, and we hope that everybody can get together and sort things out for Kenya's sake,\" said English tourist Peter Taylor, who also left the country on Friday.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile on Friday, Kenya's opposition party called for a new presidential election to settle a dispute over the vote that has sparked days of deadly riots, while small groups of protesters gathered in the capital's shanty towns to prepare for an opposition rally.\u003cbr/\u003eThere was no immediate comment on the call for a new vote from the government
