Alexander McQueen on stage for finale\u003cbr/\u003eTributes have been paid to the late designer, Alexander McQueen, at the start of London Fashion Week. \u003cbr/\u003eHe apparently committed suicide earlier this month after the death of his mother. \u003cbr/\u003eMcQueen learnt his trade as an apprentice in London''s prestigious Savile Row.\u003cbr/\u003eLondon''s Savile Row is famous across the globe for bespoke tailoring.\u003cbr/\u003eThe small street is lined with high-end tailor shops, which offer the creme-de-la-creme of suits.\u003cbr/\u003eSavile Row hand tailored suits cost anything in the region of �500 - �10,000 ($773 US Dollars to $15,472 US Dollars), depending on the style and fabrics used. \u003cbr/\u003eHere, apprentices learn the art of tailoring under the watchful eyes of master tailors.\u003cbr/\u003eSpending five to ten years training, the apprentices learn the craft of cutting, trimming, measuring and finishing.\u003cbr/\u003eJoe Matthews is two years into his five-year apprenticeship.\u003cbr/\u003eBased at Savile Row''s oldest tailors, Davies and Son established in 1803, Joe is learning the key skills needed to make a bespoke suit.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says it''s a fun and an interesting job.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Being an apprentice on Savile Row is great fun. eye-catching garments.\u003cbr/\u003eMcQueen started his fashion career at Central St. Martins College of art and design before embarking on an apprenticeship at Savile Row tailors Gieves and Hawks and Anderson and Shepherd.\u003cbr/\u003eHis time on Savile row taught him the key skills in bespoke tailoring.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1996 McQueen became chief designer at Givenchy, later moving to be creative director at Gucci in 2001.\u003cbr/\u003eAlexander McQueen''s first collection ''The collection McQueen'' was released on 11 October 2007.\u003cbr/\u003eLondon Fashion Week runs till February
