when a vendor confronted him about the killings of anti-government protesters last year. \u003cbr/\u003eThe woman thrust bloody photographs of corpses at Abhisit Vejjajiva as he tried to explain his version of what had happened.\u003cbr/\u003eIt had started out normally for Abhisit as he strolled through the capital's commercial district.\u003cbr/\u003eThe city's a stronghold of his Democrat Party and crowds of shoppers and office staff greeted him warmly and draped garlands round his neck. \u003cbr/\u003eMany of the well-wishers were female and there were even screams as the handsome politician campaigned on behalf of a local candidate.\u003cbr/\u003eBut as he entered a covered market there was one lady he wasn't able to charm. \u003cbr/\u003eHolding a magazine whose cover carried graphic photos of dead bodies, a local vendor confronted him about the many anti-government protestors who were killed a year ago, when troops crushed a two-month long demonstration in Bangkok. \u003cbr/\u003eAs the Prime Minister put his version of events she pressed him again and again, clearly unwilling to accept what he said.\u003cbr/\u003e91 people died in the course of the impasse, including on the last day when an army assault backed by armoured vehicles swept the protestors from the streets. \u003cbr/\u003eSix people died at a temple which had been designated as a sanctuary. \u003cbr/\u003eA recent report by the New York-based independent rights group Human Rights Watch blamed the army for at least three of the deaths but Abhisit on Wednesday denied they were involved at all.\u003cbr/\u003eThe exchange in the market lasted for almost seven minutes.\u003cbr/\u003eAbhisit continued with his campaigning straight afterwards, sweating heavily in the sweltering Bangkok heat.\u003cbr/\u003eIn what's seen as a crucial election in this deeply polarised South East Asian nation, polls suggest the Prime Minister's party is trailing in popularity behind its main competitor
