capital.\u003cbr/\u003eDesigning and building models of the place where Jesus is supposed to have been born is a Christian tradition, in particular in Catholic countries like this Andean nation.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Alatrista family has been building a nativity every Christmas for the past century, and every year all members of the family, from the oldest to the youngest, gather round his religious symbol to celebrate the holiday season.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Augusto Alatrista is worried that it is a tradition that is gradually dying out in modern times, as the fir tree, decorated with baubles and lights, is slowly replacing the Nativity as a symbol of Christmas.\u003cbr/\u003eBut at least in the Alastrista home, the Nativity will always be an essential part of the family
