able to polish their artistic skills under the supervision of their teachers. \u003cbr/\u003eA school in Iraq is offering ballet and music classes to its young students.\u003cbr/\u003eThe School of Music and Ballet, the only one in Iraq, was founded in Iraq 1970 and to this day teaches classical dance to a handful of young girls.\u003cbr/\u003eDressed in the lightweight black short dress and dancing shoes, the girls practice their moves under the watchful eye of their instructor.\u003cbr/\u003eThe school also offers musical instrument classes in piano and violin, among other instruments.\u003cbr/\u003eOne girl, practicing her violin skills, receives a private tutorial by a teacher. \u003cbr/\u003eThe school is run by Headmistress Najiha Nayif Hamadi.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says that because of the current security situation the number of pupils has decreased, with many moving abroad or simply changing schools.\u003cbr/\u003eIn past there were two other schools offering music classes and ballet, established in 1968 and 1969.\u003cbr/\u003eGraduates of the school are awarded a certificate that allows them entry into the Iraqi university system.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Headmistress hopes to open similar schools across the country, but for now these plans have been put on hold.\u003cbr/\u003eFor the now this small school provides a safe heaven for young people wanting to expand their creative spirit.\u003cbr/\u003eNonetheless, as with all schools, attentive teachers are quick to correct students'
