But this year was the worst. In terms of precipitation, (it was) 0.9 metres higher than 2006,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eKim said that about five-thousand families have suffered damage to their homes and that 450 hectares of farmland will not be able to grow anything. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Land has been inundated and washed away,\" he added. \u003cbr/\u003eKaren Poon, Operations Coordinator of the Disaster Management Unit of the IFRC, said that North Korea's branch of the Red Cross has provided emergency items such as blankets and hygiene kits and that the IFRC would consider scaling up its operations if necessary.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think it is a very serious situation.
