outdoor markets still defy the law and help fuel the country's largest illicit trade. \u003cbr/\u003eMore than the icy chill of a sudden November cold wave has been keeping people in Beijing away from cinemas and theatres showing the hottest Chinese film of the year -- Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon.\u003cbr/\u003eThe twelve and a half million (m) U-S dollar Mandarin-language feature, likened to \"Sense and Sensibility \" with a dash of Chinese martial arts, has been hailed by critics at film festivals in  Cannes, Toronto and  New York.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film shines with a constellation of stars, which alone should guarantee lines at the box office.\u003cbr/\u003eTaiwanese director  Ang Lee has assembled the talents of  Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-Fat, double-0-7 (007) heart throb Michelle Yeoh  and mainland Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi.  \u003cbr/\u003eWorld class cellist Yo-Yo Ma  and international pop icon Coco Lee both played to the soundtrack of this epic love story.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the film chosen to compete for this year's Oscar is the victim of piracy.\u003cbr/\u003eAn unchecked army of D-V-D and V-C-D vendors boldly challenge the promises of Beijing officials to end a practice which threatens to tarnish China's international image as it bids to host the Olympics in 2008.\u003cbr/\u003eExpecting  to earn more than 300-thousand Yuan (about U-S 36-thousand dollars) from Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon, the Beijing Youth Palace Theater invested heavily in promoting the film.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, two-weeks after the release it found the
