festival were attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing false moustaches.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Thursday evening, 1,544 people adorned with fake facial hair gathered in Grand Rapids, according to Gilda's LaughFest, the organiser of the event.\u003cbr/\u003eThe record awaits Guinness confirmation.\u003cbr/\u003eGilda's LaughFest said the current fake moustache world record of 648 participants was set last September at an event organised in Missouri by American football team the St Louis Rams.\u003cbr/\u003eThe event is named after American comedian and actress Gilda Radner who was best known as one of the original cast members of the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. \u003cbr/\u003eRadner was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1986 and died in 1989. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The legacy she left to all of us was permission to laugh, especially in the midst of very tough things in life,\" said Leann Arkema, President of Gilda's Club Grand Rapids.\u003cbr/\u003eLast year, LaughFest's kickoff event broke a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people wearing fake animal noses. \u003cbr/\u003eThe year before that it was
